A native of Hillsville, Virginia, Amy Reid is the Director of Educational Outreach for the College of the Arts at Georgia State University. As the Director, she coordinates annual workshops and institutes for the College of the Arts, such as SingFest!, Atlanta Saxophone Day, and the Rialto Youth Jazz Orchestra, as well as the summer programs Summer Leadership Institute, Harrower Summer Opera Workshop, Summer Jazz Workshop, and the Atlanta Summer Conducting Institute. With 12 annual workshops and institutes, these events engage over 2,500 public school students, teachers, and professional musicians and artists each year. For each individual event, she creates and executes the event logistics, operates as the business manager, as well as develops the marketing plan, including graphic design, website design, and publicity.
Amy also plans special events such as the Motion Capture Performance Workshop, and is currently planning the Eric Whitacre Residency & Choral Festival, and the Jake Runestad Composer Residency. For music educators, she partners with the Georgia Music Educators Association to offer Professional Development Certification and Teacher Licensure Renewal Credits for teachers in attendance at the annual In-Service Conference.
Prior to her time at Georgia State University, Amy obtained a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and upon graduation taught band and chorus in North Carolina public schools before moving to Atlanta.
Amy lives in Powder Springs, GA with her husband Devin and their two children Katelynn and Ethan.
