Amber Toplisek
Lecturer/Visiting College of the Arts, Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design- Biography
Amber Toplisek is an interdisciplinary artist who thinks about the network of images that exists within her and how it shapes her understanding of the world. Toplisek’s work plays with images that are encased by materials such as steel, plexi, water, solder, and glass. By embedding images within these tangible structures, her intention is to amplify their potential to coalesce into the viewer’s physical body. This phenomenological experience is further explored by various tactics of obfuscation between the viewer and the image in order to create a lasting, more complex experience.
Amber received her MFA from the University of South Florida. She also holds a BFA from Georgia State University. Her work has been shown nationally and internationally.
