Alumna Redelia Shaw Attends the Toronto International Film Festival for the World Premier of Cocaine Prison Documentary
ATLANTA — It was a momentous occasion for alumna filmmaker Redelia Shaw (M.A. Film 2004) who proudly joined her fellow producers for the sold out world premier of “Cocaine Prison” (United Notions Film) at the Toronto International Film Festival 2017.
Sidewalk Film Festival Awards “All The Leaves Are Brown” Wins the 2017 Jury Award for Best Documentary Short
ATLANTA—Congratulations to Associate Professor Daniel Robin (Film and Digital Media Production) whose film, “All The Leaves Are Brown” recently won the Jury Award for Best Documentary Short Film at the 19th Annual Sidewalk Film Festival in Birmingham, Alabama.
Professor Gordon Vernick Featured In Public Art Exhibit For Atlanta Jazz Festival
ATLANTA—In honor of the Atlanta Jazz Festival’s 40th Anniversary, the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs recently installed a collection of photographs of jazz musicians in storefront windows throughout south downtown Atlanta. The project features 23 striking images of musicians who have entertained festival audiences over the past 39 years, including School of Music’s Dr. Gordon Vernick, Professor of Music and Coordinator of Jazz Studies.
Rendering (the) Visible III: Liquidity Announcement and Call For Papers
ATLANTA—The graduate program in Moving Image Studies at Georgia State University presents “Rendering (the) Visible” III: Liquidity,” February 8-10, 2018. Conference panels, film and dance performances, and keynote lecture will explore the concept of liquidity as an innovative critical approach to the image’s relation to space, sensoriality, and digitality, as well as an aesthetic sensibility attuned to the political ontology of motion, form, matter, and noise.
