Georgia State University College of the Arts is the Professional Development Administrator for the annual Georgia Music Educator’s Association In-Service Conference held in Athens, GA. A Certificate of Attendance containing Professional Learning Units is granted to professionals and educators who wish to receive Professional Development Certification based on registration and viewing of conference events. Individuals may choose the conference sessions, concerts, or division meetings that are best suited to their interests and content area. For the 2021 Virtual Conference, teachers may select the number of credits they wish to obtain. Teachers will be able to view sessions and performances live or recorded after the conference. Credits are certified based on the number of contact hours viewed.
Teachers can turn their Professional Learning Units or Certificates of Attendance to their district’s Professional Development office to certify their participation in Professional Development for Music to assist with licensure renewals. Each district and school system has different policies regarding Professional Development, please check with your school system on your requirements for Professional Development and licensure.
To receive a Certificate of Attendance for the GMEA In-Service Conference, each educator must:
1. Pre-register online by Friday, January 8, 2021.The pre-registration fees are outlined below for registrations and payments received by Friday, January 8, 2021.
- For 2 Credit Hours (20 contact hours) : $25
- For 3 Credit Hours (30 contact hours) : $35
- For 4 Credit Hours (40 contact hours) : $45
2. Log-on to the Virtual GMEA In-Service Conference to view the sessions and confirm your attendance. Each attendee must use the GMEA Virtual Portal to ensure their session viewing is logged.
Educators who register after January 8, 2021 will have a late fee added to your registration. Registration will not be accepted after January 30, 2021.
Late Registration Fees
- For 2 Credit Hours (20 contact hours): $30
- For 3 Credit Hours (30 contact hours): $40
- For 4 Credit Hours (40 contact hours): $50
Once you have selected the number of credit hours you wish to receive, you will be responsible for viewing the appropriate number of contact hours via the GMEA Conference Portal. The GMEA Conference Portal will track your viewing of each session. You must login to the conference portal in order to ensure your session viewing is logged and accounted for. You will have 3 months following the conference to complete the appropriate number of contact hours. It is recommended that you also keep a record of the sessions you have viewed to ensure you are completing the required number of contact hours.
No partial credit will be issued. Credit hours will be issued in 10-hour increments. Refunds will not be issued in the instance the appropriate number of contact hours is not obtained. For example, if you register & pay for for 3 credit hours (30 contact hours), but only view 25 contact hours during the 3 months, you will receive 2 Credit Hours. The $10 difference in your registration fee will not be refunded.
Following the 3 month viewing window, Certificates will be mailed to the address listed on your registration in May 2021. Once you receive your Certificate in the mail, make a copy for your records and submit the original Certificate to your district’s Professional Development Office or Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA).
To replace a lost Professional Development Certificate or Professional Learning Unit Verification from previous years, please click the button below. Professional Development records are kept on file for five years from the date of the workshop or conference. There is a non-refundable processing fee for replacement documentation of $10.00 per certification requested.
