The Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design announced the recent acquisition of the Larry M. and Gwendolyn E. Walker Collection of Art. This personal collection of over 330 works reflects the family’s lifelong devotion to art education, mentorship, and the creative community. This generous gift will serve the school’s student body and faculty scholarship, inspiring archival research, material studies, curatorial opportunities, professional development, and public programming.
The exhibition "Legacy" is the first event in a series of programming that celebrates the Larry M. and Gwendolyn E. Walker Collection at Georgia State. The exhibition showcases a "sampling" of the collection featuring work by globally renowned artists who were friends, colleagues, and students of Larry Walker. Alongside the exhibition, the Welch School Galleries hosts a solo exhibition of work by Yanique Norman, who was a mentee of Walker. Read the press release here.
