As 2024 draws to a close, Artistic Voices highlights Alex Pilotzi, an ambitious School of Film, Media & Theatre student who graduates this December with a bachelor's degree in Film and Media, along with a minor from the Georgia Film Academy. While directing and cinematography are on his radar, Alex's #1 priority after graduating is to land a position as a camera operator, the technical side of filmmaking he most enjoys.
We connect with Alex about his background, what influenced him to apply to the film program, the benefits of being certified by the Georgia Film Academy, and more.
Atlanta-based, Alex is a Mexican-American filmmaker and is the first in his family to pursue a film degree. While attending GSU, Alex founded Pilotzi Productions and began taking on freelance work in photography and videography. This allows Alex to gain real-world experience and explore his creative ideas. When asked about his favorite film genre? Science fiction is at the top of the list followed by thrillers, drama and comedy.
