Artistic Voices spotlights Interior Design student Parrish Wiggins from the Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design. Now in his 4th year and on his way to earning a B.F.A. degree, we connect with Parrish about what sparked his interest in interior design, a scholarship to spend the summer in New York at the prestigious Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) for the Summer Studio in Classical Architecture program, and his thoughts about GSU's interior design program, and more.
Through a solid foundation from GSU’s Interior Design program, Parrish has developed a design philosophy that centers on the intersection of classical aesthetics and modern design innovation. His involvement with the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art opened doors to travel to Oxford, England for the Christopher H. Brown Oxford Drawing Tour, and then to New York, where he earned a certification in classical architecture from the ICAA Studio, all deepening his appreciation for the timeless beauty of classical forms. Through experiences, Parrish continues to shape an approach to creating spaces that are both functional and rooted in historical relevance. Whether exploring the integration of classical orders or developing solutions that address contemporary environmental challenges, his goal is always to create spaces that are adaptable, responsive and impactful.
Among his awards and recognition include a Certificate in Classical Architecture from the ICAA, 2024 Summer Studio in Classical Architecture Scholarship Recipient, Gensler University Mentorship 2023-2024 Student, Peace Design Summer Studies Scholarship, 2024-2025 and Co-President Elect for the Interior Design Organization at Georgia State University.
