Artistic Voices is pleased to introduce Ellie Neufeld Pires, an alumna of GSU's School of Music graduate program. Between 2019 and 2021, she completed graduate studies in wind band conducting, earning a Master of Music degree and an Artist Certificate diploma. Originally from Alberta, Canada, Ellie is currently based in Atlanta, where she serves as the associate Band Director at Pace Academy and the Interim Director for the Atlanta Musicians' Orchestra.
Artistic Voices had the opportunity to connect with Ellie about her decision to attend Georgia State’s graduate program, her experience conducting in São Paulo, Brazil, the joys of teaching, and forming a classical chamber ensemble here in Atlanta, and more.
In 2022 Ellie Neufeld was selected to be a Reynolds Institute Fellow at the annual Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, IL. A year later, she founded Camerata Música Atlanta, Atlanta's newest classical chamber ensemble.
Neufeld was the recipient of the Keith Mann Young Band Director Award in 2017 which recognizes outstanding band directors with less than six years of experience, and the division recipient of the Edwin Parr Teacher Award in 2014, awarded to exceptional first-year teachers in any subject.
Ellie Neufeld is a graduate from the University of Alberta Music program where she completed her Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education degrees in the spring of 2013.
