Last summer, Georgia State’s feature-length film, “Rejuvenation,” previewed at a special screening at the Plaza Theatre in Atlanta. Award-winning producer and artist-in-residence Tom Luse led the psychological thriller written, produced, and acted largely by Georgia State students.
It was a milestone collaboration mainly between the College of the Arts’ School of Film, Media & Theatre, and the Creative Media Industries Institute (CMII). At the center of it all is fourth-year student Imani Okwuosa who portrayed the lead character of Trinity Tucker, a collegiate track star who after a debilitating injury, becomes dependent on painkillers and seeks help from an experimental treatment facility.
Artistic Voices connects with Imani as she talks about her background, tackling a lead role, and the exciting news of Rejuvenation streaming to an international audience.
Imani is a senior studying Acting at Georgia State University. She played Trinity, the lead role in the feature film "Rejuvenation" and Bunmi in GSU’s fall production of "Bunmi and Babajide Much Ado." She acted in the devised play, "Circadian; When Will We Wake," where she also assisted in choreographing and writing. She is the head of marketing of the Atlanta City Theatre Organization, a student club dedicated to providing students with theatrical opportunities and professional experiences in the theatre. Among her hobbies are writing poetry, reading, and hanging out with friends and family.
