When it comes to paving career foundations, many of our art students tap into connections and internships here in the metro-Atlanta area. Not so for music education student Lyndiona Kemp. The graduating senior chose a different path and traveled more than 9,000 miles to rural Battambang, Cambodia to teach a music workshop that she co-created with her project partner from the New England Conservatory. Hear from Lyndiona as she talks about her Cambodian connection, using music fundamentals to teach the students the English language, and a concert showcasing more than 400 school-aged students.
Lyndiona Kemp is a senior studying Music Education and minoring in Psychology. She began piano studies at age four and found her love for choral singing during her early elementary years. With a deep passion for learning and sharing the gift of music, Lyndiona sought opportunities to observe and co-teach with her mentors. For the past five years, Lyndiona has taught students in both private lessons and classroom settings. She is currently focusing on her full-time student teaching placement at an elementary school in Atlanta.
