Georgia State hosted the 2022 Trumpet Festival of the Southeast at the Florence Kopleff Recital Hall from January 14-16. The unique program brought together students, educators and trumpet enthusiasts for a weekend of special concerts and recitals, masterclasses and roundtable discussions.
The festival featured world-class guest artists that included Konradin Groth from Germany, Sean Jones from the United States, David Pastor from Spain, Ensamble 7/4 from Venezuela, and the musicians from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Trumpet Section.
The program also showcased multiple collegiate professors and students from the Southeast with student, professor and ensemble performances. Among the well-wishers included Georgia State University President Brian Blake.
The 2022 Trumpet Festival was led by hosts Alex Freund, George McLean and Gordon Vernick, and was made possible through support from the College of the Arts, the Georgia State School of Music and the Center for Collaboration and Innovation in the Arts (CENCIA).
